My Work
Terrie’s works with individuals, families, and organizations looking to gather the self-awareness, courage, knowledge, and tools to succeed in fall prevention, aging gracefully, and chronic pain prevention.
Fall Prevention
Everyone falls. Unfortunately falls can be dangerous and debilitating. In this course you will learn about:
The actual underlying causes of a fall
How to help prevent falls
What happens to the mind, body, and spirit after a fall
What it takes to fully recover from a fall
How to Grow Old Without Killing Yourself
Are you afraid of the aging process? If you could have a positive impact on how the aging process affects your daily life, would you? There are so many little things you can do right now that will make it possible to grow old gracefully and with zest in your heart. In this training, based on my book, you will learn strategies to age while living, laughing, and growing with abundance.
Preventing Chronic Pain
You will learn a new, unique, and successful approach, perspective, and understanding for preventing this very challenging disorder, based on Terrie’s Prolonged Pain Complex© and Change Model©. This non-medication approach works from a foundation that not only addresses body parts, but the entire person, mind, body, and spirit. The goal is to encourage people to become active participants in their health and create a productive internal dialogue.
All trainings are:
Interactive
Tailored to the specific needs of the participants
Designed with the specific purpose of having each participant leave committing to one thing they would like to change as a result of attending
Supported by clear and comprehensive written materials
Designed so that each participant will have an opportunity to expand their self-awareness, learn specific tools and understand the kind of support they need to go forward
Our Models
The Change Model
The Prolonged Pain Complex
AllySupport
Using this model, we can assess the mind, body, and spirit as one and change internal dialogue from "I am my pain" to "I have pain and…"
This model allows us to evaluate every aspect of a person's life that might be contributing to their pain. We can listen, see, and validate people with this relational model of healing, and become an ally. We can also use treatment methods that stimulate the natural production of healing hormones. Most importantly, we can educate people in pain and their families on how their bodies work. We can collaborate and develop individualized treatment plans.
This approach is critical in supporting any individual in moving forward. This model enables us to understand the lifestyle habits and adaptive movement patterns that contribute significantly to pain.
Three levels of healing from pain:
Level 1: Reducing the pain and quieting the nervous system
Level 2: Balancing and aligning the musculoskeletal system
Level 3: Strengthening and conditioning the nervous and musculoskeletal system
We all need support to heal. You cannot change your fundamental beliefs about yourself without an ally. An ally is someone who makes a concerted effort to understand an individual's struggle to change, heal, and act and provides support throughout the healing process in a non-judgemental and non-shaming way. We all need support from those individuals that genuinely want us to succeed.
This ally relationship is foundational to successful change. The health care providers, family members, and friends that we chose to interact with need to be allies. From the first interaction with my clients, I become an ally and consistently model AllySupport© behavior.
