Meet Terrie Carpenter, PT

Pain Management Specialist | Consultant | Author | Speaker

Terrie Carpenter has over 50 years of professional experience.

Terrie’s vast experience, indomitable spirit, creative wisdom, commitment to innovation, and understanding that the power of her relationship with her clients is key to the healing process have brought her to the forefront of pain management and allowed her to help individuals heal who had formerly sought help without success.

She began her career in 1967 when she graduated from the Army Medical Specialist Corps as a physical therapist and first lieutenant. She remained in the army until 1969 and attained the rank of captain. Her experience in the army shaped her career, being at the forefront of medical advances during the Vietnam war. She learned to be a “thinking therapist” and collaborate with her medical colleagues to attain the highest quality of patient care and still strives to value and embody this ideal today.

Finding herself once again on a medical forefront in pain management, Ms. Carpenter founded Allies for Change, a private healthcare practice that specializes in non-medication pain management and patient advocacy. Terrie works with patients, their families, and healthcare providers. She understands at a deep level that non-judgmental collaboration among all who interact with a suffering individual is key to the healing process. To that end, she designs pain management programs for healthcare providers and addiction centers. She is also a frequent speaker on pain management and opioid addiction.

Terrie has built her practice on five core values.

  • 1. Worthwhileness

People thrive when they are seen, heard, and validated. Terrie holds this as a high priority and standard in her treatment methodology by creating a non-judgmental  and shame-free space for every client to get their needs met.

  • 2. Freedom

Freedom to take the path of nonconformity in the field of pain management is essential to Terrie as she guides her clients into the actual healing practices and modalities that set them free.

  • 3. Personal Health

Terrie strives to maintain mental, spiritual, and physical health to be a role model for her clients and other professionals. This approach allows her to assist and guide individuals in looking at pain and the aging process through a new and improved lens.

  • 4. Creative Wisdom

Terrie uses creativity, perseverance, and a fearless propensity to think outside the box in the ways she treats her patients. She pulls from all of her clinical experience and personal growth work to address the individual needs of her clients. This approach also guides the way she operates her business.

  • 5. Integrity

Her main focus is to make the right decisions in her practice and for her patients. Integrity means reliably doing the right thing. Because of her extensive experience, she has a clinical moral compass that does not waver. Her driving ideal is always to leave everything, and everyone she encounters better than she found it.
